Support Our Work
At Rabbinic Arts, professional artists immerse themselves in rigorous text study and develop new works of creative Midrash and performance Talmud. Through these works, we strive to expand the Jewish canon, uplift the ways in which our classical text remains relevant today, and cultivate a global love of and appreciation for Judaism.
In our first year, we mounted a workshop of an original piece - The Oven of Aknai - based on the Talmudic story of the same name, launched our Rabbinic Arts Fellowship where we and 5 artists created and presented original works in the Catskills and were invited to be a part of the Upstart Uplift program for innovative Jewish projects.
In our second year, we’ve expanded our residencies and grew our cohort of artists. Together, we delved into more complex rabbinic texts, expounding upon our rabbinic ancestors’ words through multimedia performance art, opera and art-song, site-specific dance-theater, poetry and elegy. Approaching summer 2026, we plan to return to the Catskills with this incredible cohort to prepare public presentations of these works-in-progress in collaboration with local communities.
